Should You Upgrade to Aftermarket Foot Pegs?

Aftermarket dirt bike foot pegs are a popular upgrade with many riders:

With wider platforms and “teeth” that grip your boot, many riders find these aftermarket foot pegs make a BIG difference in their overall bike control.

This makes sense, given that your feet are a key point of contact with the bike.

Features To Consider When Shopping:

PLATFORM SIZE: Bigger platforms contact a larger surface area of your boot, increasing your overall feeling of control. Wider is generally considered better.

FOOTPEG GRIP: Aftermarket foot pegs “grip” your boots better with designs that feature teeth or cleats. The more teeth/cleats, the better your feet are held to the pegs. Look for “anti-clog” designs that help prevent mud from filling the peg.

PIVOTING DESIGN: Look for designs that move with your boot and ankle as you shift weight on the bike. (Keeping your boots in full contact with the pegs.)

STRENGTH: What are they made from: aluminium, steel, or titanium? Aluminium designs are lighter than steel, and steel is strong than aluminium. Titanium offers the best of both worlds, but you’ll pay a premium price.

ADJUSTABLE: Many designs are height, traction, and camber (tilt) adjustable.
