FAQ's

Stay Cool and Steam Ahead with 24MX Radiators.

Heat is the enemy of all internal combustion engines. Too little heat and the engine oil won’t run freely into the engine’s nooks and crannies. Too much heat and the oil becomes overly thin, compromising its lubrication ability. In addition, if the engine overheats, metal components expand, resulting in a seized engine. Motocross bikes have specific needs when it comes to power. They require high performance from a comparatively small capacity engine and demand instant acceleration. The engine to offer these characteristics must maintain the correct working temperature. It is this that makes motocross engines the ideal candidate for liquid cooling. The coolant runs in channels around the engine and feeds the motorcycle radiator via cooling hoses. The result is an engine that runs at optimum temperature and offers full power on tap.

Keeping Cool

The critical player in liquid cooling is the motorbike radiator. Coolant gets forced around the engine via a water pump, collecting heat as it goes. The liquid enters the motorbike radiator and forces its way through pipework with multiple bends and fins. This action allows heat to become lost, and the cooled fluid returns to the engine to continue the cycle.

Radiator Damage

As important as their job is, motorbike radiators are easily damaged. Cooling fins may bend or become crushed, preventing coolant flow or compromising the radiator’s performance. Alternatively, the radiator may also sustain enough impact damage to cause it to leak.

Performance Upgrade

An aftermarket motorbike radiator from 24MX is often lighter than a stock item, and either has additional pipework or more/larger cooling fins. These enable the radiator to cool the liquid faster so the engine can run at peak efficiency for longer. If you make any engine performance upgrades to generate extra heat, an aftermarket motorbike radiator becomes essential.

Accessories that enhance your motorbike radiator’s performance:

Radiator Braces: These strong aluminium brackets fit around the motorbike radiator and protect them from impact damage.

Radiator Hose Cooler: This item sits in the middle of the intake or outlet radiator hose and helps lower the coolant temperature.

Radiator Sleeve: The fine mesh sleeve fits over the radiator as an additional layer of protection without affecting the cooling performance.

Louvres/Shrouds: The louvred shroud protects the radiator from large debris. While the angled slats ram passing air into the radiator.

Radiator Hose Kits: Aftermarket radiator hose kits are stronger and lighter than original factory parts. Yet, best of all, they are available in bright colours to make the engine pop.

Oil Cooling System: These bolt-on accessories act as a small radiator to cool engine oil.

Water Pump: If you have an aftermarket radiator, a high-performance water pump will ensure that the coolant circulates faster.
