Motocross handlebars may not have switchgear for lights, indicators, or horn, but their height, width, and pullback dimensions are vital. With the ends of the handlebars retaining the stock 22mm diameter, tapered bars widen towards the centre. This design means that the part of the bars that fit in the clamps is 28.6mm. This difference in diameter allows for an impressive strength gain while remaining flexible enough at the ends to take the knocks without bending.
